Raw Vegan Pizza Recipe

As I have mentioned before in an earlier raw challenge post, I miss pizza! Pizza is my favorite food so it was time to make a raw vegan pizza. I couldn’t be happier with the result and I must say even one piece of this raw vegan pizza is very filling!

Raw Vegan Pizza Recipe Gluten Free Dairy Free

In this recipe you have to prepare four different things. Let’s start with the flax seed crust.

Ingredients for the crust:

  • 1 cup of flax seeds
  • 3 Tablespoons of flax seed powder
  • 1 Tablespoon of hemp seeds
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of tamari
  • 1 Tablespoon of tahini
  • 1 Tablespoon of maple syrup
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of lime juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of nutritional yeast

Instructions for the pizza crust: whisk all the dry ingredients together evenly. Add the wet ingredients and whisk thoroughly. Allow mixture to sit for 15 minutes. Then empty the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or your dehydrator tray. Spread and flatten the mixture evenly into a large round pizza crust shape. Score the crust before dehydrating it with a pizza cutter into pizza slice shapes. Dehydrate the crust in a convection oven or dehydrator for 6 to 9 hours or until slices are crispy. We used a convection oven and they turned out great!

Ingredients for the raw vegan Italian sausage meat:

  • 3 cups of raw walnuts that have been soaked
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil
  • Dash of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon of red onions, diced
  • 1 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Tamari
  • Dash of red pepper flakes
  • Dash of ground cardamom
  • Dash of ground cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg powder
  • 2 teaspoons of fennel seeds*

Instructions for the raw vegan Italian sausage meat:

Add all of the ingredients except the fennel seeds into a high powered blender. We used a Vitamix. Blend until almost completely smooth. You could use a food processor for this as well and pulse until everything is almost smooth. Using a food processor may end up with a slightly more crunchy result, but it would work for the most part. Empty the blender or food processor container into a bowl and set aside.

* Do not blend the fennel seeds with everything else in the high powered blender. Wait until mixture is blended, then stir the fennel seeds in with a spoon!

Ingredients for the raw vegan pizza cheese:

  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 6 Tablespoons of nutritional yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt
  • 1 cup of raw cashews
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon of tahini

Instructions for the raw vegan pizza cheese: Add all of the ingredients into a high powered blender like a Vitamix and blend until smooth and creamy! Empty into a bowl and set aside.

Finally, here are the ingredients for the raw vegan pizza sauce:

  • 2 medium to large tomatoes
  • 6 sun dried tomatoes
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup red onions
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of dried oregano
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of dried basil
  • Dash of cumin
  • Dash of black pepper
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of ground allspice

Instructions for the raw vegan pizza sauce: Add all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

Assembly instructions for the raw vegan pizza once everything is ready:

  1. Add a layer of pizza sauce onto the number of slices you want to eat
  2. Shape the raw vegan Italian sausage into squares or balls and place them on top of the pizza sauce. Make as many as you would like.
  3. Drizzle as much of the raw vegan pizza cheese on top of the vegan sausage
  4. Eat it.
