Raw Vegan Chocolate Caramel Pie

Raw Vegan Chocolate Caramel Pie

We had not made or had any kind of a dessert since we started our 30 day raw vegan challenge. We both thought it was a good time to try to make one which is how this raw vegan chocolate caramel pie was born! It was important to us to not use any sugar and we were successful thanks to dates and a little bit of agave syrup in the chocolate cream. There are three elements to this pie: the crust, caramel cream and chocolate cream. Let’s get started:

Strawberry Banana Fruit Salad

Strawberry Banana Fruit Salad

One day, right before we began our 30 day raw vegan challenge, Athanasia made this amazing strawberry banana fruit salad. It instantly became my favorite fruit salad! It is very delicious and easy to make so we made it again last week to enjoy during our challenge. Today marks day 14 of our challenge. Two weeks behind us, two weeks to go. I am feeling very good and am enjoying this challenge quite a bit. I may even be interested in maintaining a 75% to 80% raw vegan diet after we are done at this point. I am looking forward to pizza again too, but I do not crave it anymore at this point. Anyway, here is how we made the fruit salad:

Jake: One day Athanasia was looking around the internet for vegan gluten free snacks and treats to have something she could bring with her for school. Gluten Free Vegan Chocolate Orange Cake

We wanted to make a few ideas we had for a nice romantic Valentine’s day dinner. Naturally, the dessert was the easiest idea to come up with: chocolate! We had been wanting to make a version of our vegan gluten free chocolate cake that had orange in it to give it some zest (pun intended). So we made this gluten free vegan chocolate orange cake! It also has melted chocolate chunks in the cake to really melt those chocolate lovers out there 🙂 Here is how we made it: Gluten Free Vegan Chocolate Orange Cake Continue reading Gluten Free Vegan Chocolate Orange Cake

Vasilopita

Vasilopita

Traditionally in Greece we hold a dinner on New Year’s Eve, we eat all these amazing things our moms make! Of course you have to have a vasilopita on the dinner table, the traditional round pie in which we hide a coin (wrapped in aluminum foil). Whoever finds the coin in his piece of cake is lucky for the year! Continue reading Vasilopita

Traditional Greek Christmas Biscuits

Traditional Greek Christmas Biscuits

These are traditional Greek Christmas biscuits which you see everywhere if you walk around this time of year in Greece. They are very simple, easy and enjoyable. Everybody who makes them gives them a different flavor and aroma! For example, some people use ouzo or liquor; others use orange zest and juice. I feel the most traditional flavor and aroma combination comes from edible flower water you can spray them with. Continue reading Traditional Greek Christmas Biscuits
