I love hummus! I made this chipotle hummus about a month ago now while Athanasia was in Athens because she is not a big fan of mildly spicy foods. This is a pretty common occurrence for me to make spicy foods to eat while she is away. I would label this particular hummus to be in the mild category of spicy. Hummus makes a great snack for around the house or even to take with you to work or school. One of the best parts about making hummus is how extremely quick and easy it is to make it! I like to boil my own chickpeas but it’s even quicker if you prefer to use canned chickpeas.
We are rolling out a new format with this post as well. We are going to try to include the cost of some of our recipes from now on. We probably will not be able to do this for all of our recipes but we will do it when we can. So, without further delay, here is our first installment in our budget recipes category: Continue reading Chipotle Hummus
We love to make raw vegan smoothies, especially as the weather begins to warm up. We both love this chocoberry smoothie and think it’s the perfect way to kick off smoothie season! This smoothie is great for breakfast and can be enjoyed as a snack throughout the day. It’s easy to put into a seal-able container to bring with you on the go as well. Today we will show you how to turn your spoons into shovels so you can dig in to some geology dietology! This appealingly delicious dessert features 3 layers of refined sugar-free goodness to dig in to. The top layer is your favorite vegan jam (we used a refined sugar-free apricot jam). The second layer is a homemade, easy to make sweet and salty peanut butter. The bottom layer is a delicious raw brownie recipe we adapted from the amazing blog Unconventional Baker; click here for the original recipe. This is so delicious you won’t want to put your shovels down!

This chipotle BBQ vegan cheese dip is one of my favorite snacks I’ve ever made! We use our own homemade barbecue sauce in it but you can use whatever bbq sauce you prefer to make it. I first came up with this recipe about 4 years ago now and it’s been a hit with everybody who has tried it ever since! It is an incredibly easy and simple recipe to make as well as a great appetizer or snack when you are in a hurry. This recipe makes a lot of dip (6 cups or 1420 ml) so make sure your blender can hold that much or you might have to cut the recipe in half.

Today we are going to take a break from our nutrition series (for those of you following us) to talk about Meatout – eat vegan for a day. Meatout is a day to encourage all people to try a vegan diet for a day. We think it would be great if more people tried a vegan diet. Obviously we feel vegan food is real and delicious despite rumors circulating stating the contrary. Therefore we decided to compile this list of some recipes we think non-vegans would love to eat today (and maybe even ask for seconds!)! Our nutrition series information will be coming soon for our readers who are waiting for it. Continue reading Meatout – Eat Vegan For A Day
This baked tofu sandwich with a smoothie is a lovely idea for a vegan gluten free snack to take with you to school, work or a picnic! The baked tofu sandwich is satisfying and is perfectly complimented by the smoothie you can bring with you in a mason jar. We worked a lot until we could figure out a way to make tofu tasty and colorful without frying it, and we are proud to present you with the results. This is another recipe idea by Dimitra Makrigianni who is a nutritionist we are working with to create a vegan nutrition project this week.

I would like to inform our subscribers that we are planning something for the meatout day on Friday, so you will receive our e-mails everyday as we post recipes this week leading up to it. So, we apologize for all the notifications you will be receiving from us this week but after that we will return to out usual rhythm! We are currently working with a nutritionist on a vegan nutrition project. This cashew cream fruit salad recipe was the idea of the nutritionist we are working with, Dimitra Makrigianni, as a fruit salad that will keep someone satisfied for dinner. The combination I chose made me fall in love with it and picture it for breakfast as well! A filling fruit salad featuring corn flakes as a crust, a fluffy sweet cashew cream filling paired with oranges, blonde raisins and cinnamon on top. One spoonful will convince you! It’s time for the Super Bowl! Do you have your vegan snacks planned out for Sunday yet? If you do not, why not join us in making vegan nachos bell grande a.k.a. nachos supreme! I keep recreating all these junk foods from my non-vegan days. Perhaps it is not the healthiest thing to be doing but I think it’s nice to show people who are thinking of making the transition what is actually possible. Besides, how unhealthy can walnuts, almonds and tomatoes actually be? It’s so delicious too! So, who’s ready for some football?

Kick back and watch your favorite movie tonight and enjoy it with some vegan nacho cheese! This is one of my personal favorites. It’s not for everybody because it has a little kick to it; ye be warned! Continue reading Vegan Nacho Cheese Dip
Here it is, our raw month challenge results post! As some of our readers may remember, we decided to do a 30 day raw vegan challenge beginning at the end of April 2014 through May 2014. We never managed to post the results and our thoughts on the challenge before our hard drive crashed over the summer. Shame on us for not backing up, so if you are reading this right now you should make a mental note to back up your important files after you are done reading! Lucky for us, Athanasia kept old school notes with a pen and paper so we are still able to (finally) publish this post. Sure, we lost some of the recipes we had and, of course, any photos we did not already upload to our blog are gone too. However, we can still share with you what we do have.
