Juicing like a sir! My family and I completed a 60 day juice fast back in early 2012 after watching the documentary ‘Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead’ based upon recommendations from my sister. We decided to give it a try and had fantastic results! I remember feeling so energized and cleansed from fasting. Of course, eating whole food again after the fast was such an amazing feeling too! A lot of people can get confused about whether or not juicing is right for them. Health is a tricky subject so we are not going to recommend to anybody who has not talked to their nutritionist or medical professional to try juicing. It is difficult to know exactly what nutrients you need to acquire on an everyday basis through juicing. Also, we are not going on a juice fast right at this moment either, however, we do enjoy the occasional green juice as a meal replacement. This simple but delicious juice features only 3 ingredients: red apples, green grapes and dandelion greens. Continue reading Juicing Like A Sir

Paulina’s Tart
One of Athanasia’s best friends made this for her and her friends earlier this year and she came home boasting of how delicious it was! I was thinking how can a tart be that good without any cheese on it? Well, I feel guilty about ever having that thought now! After trying it, there is no doubt in my mind Paulina’s tart is exceptional! It just so happens to be simple and easy to make as well. Athanasia had been wanting to make it for a while just so I could try it, so we finally made it.
Vegan Greek Sour Cheese
This is an amazing vegan Greek sour cheese recipe straight from the island of Crete! Finding and making these vegan cheese recipes has become Athanasia’s specialty! We found this particular recipe at our friend’s blog Vegan in Athens (click here to view original recipe). With this particular vegan cheese you can make dakos (ντάκος), which is a very traditional Greek food from Crete. Find out how we made these delicious snacks:
Creamy Stir Fry
One of our favorite things to make this past year has been variations of stir fry. Not too long ago we posted this delicious gluten free vegan stir fry recipe. Neither one of us had much experience with making stir fry before recently. So, we listened to all the great advice given to us by Viva Las Vegans making the task easier with each attempt! This time we wanted to try a creamy stir fry and we loved this dish very much!
New Vegan Mayonnaise Recipe
As some of our readers know we already have a delicious vegan mayonnaise recipe (click here to see it). However, one of our readers has requested a recipe that does not use cashews so we decided to give it a whirl. This is obviously not an unusual request at all as many people have nut allergies or choose not to eat nuts at all. So, we got to work to come up with a new vegan mayonnaise recipe and we were both very impressed with the end result! Our biggest question was how much oil and what kind of oil to use to make sure the mayo became thick enough without using cashews. Luckily, Athanasia found this link to a nutritionist who had a great vegan mayo recipe posted (click here for link). We combined out already existing mayo recipe with hers and this is what we got:
Homemade Vegan Feta Cheese On Pizza
Athanasia came across this delicious vegan Feta cheese recipe on another vegan recipe blog so we wanted to try it out. We tried the original recipe and proceeded to change it a bit to our liking. This recipe is the end result and we are very happy with it; it is inspired by the Feta used in the Greek tomato salad known as horiatiki. We wanted to try this recipe on a pizza inspired by this very salad. We had just used all our olives the day before we made this pizza but other than that it is kind of a Greek tomato salad pizza! Of course, it was my idea to add some corn on top of the pizza after it had been baked which is not traditionally in the Greek tomato salad but it was very tasty! So, here is how you can make homemade vegan Feta cheese on pizza:
Hazelnut Chocolate Ice Cream
We have made so many frozen treats this summer! Hey, gotta stay cool in the Greece heat, right? We won’t promise this to be the last frozen treat of the year because the weather could stay warm for another month or so. However, we will try to bring you some “real food” recipes again soon! Here we made a delicious hazelnut chocolate ice cream and we really loved it! Instead of using vegan milk for this one we chose coconut cream and I must say the end result was a nice ice cream-like texture!
Frozen Peanut Butter Banana Sandwich
Sure, in some places of the world summer is beginning to wind down but we think there is still enough time to enjoy some delicious frozen treats! Try these frozen peanut butter banana sandwiches for a quick and easy cool treat for the summer heat…
